Introduction to the Internet (1 Day)
Brief Outline:
This course will take you through the basic skills involved with accessing information on the internet. This course uses simple explanations and analogies of Internet terms. In the hands-on exercises you will learn the simple aspects of browsing or 'surfing' the Internet.
You will learn how to send and receive emails and how to send attachments. By the end of the course you will be able to organise an email account and delete spam and unwanted mail.

By the end of your learning, you will be able to:
- State the background of the Internet Define terms: Internet, www, URL, http, ftp, etc.
- Use Internet explorer for browsing web sites.
- Bookmark and save Web pages as Favourites.
- Use simple Internet searches.
- Download and copy information from the Internet.
- Create and send e-mails.
- Reply and forward e-mails.
- Attach documents and files to e-mails.
- Set up an e-mail address book.
- Manage and organise e-mail.
Recommended Prior Experience (Prerequisites):
No experience in using the Internet is required nor assumed. Participants are expected to have a sound knowledge of and experience with a Windows PC.

Advanced Internet Searching & E-mailing (1 Day)
Brief Outline:
This course teaches you the full range of basic skills involved in accessing and using the Internet for research, communication, marketing and commerce.
In this course the instructor explains the meanings of important Internet terms with simple, every-day explanations and analogies. You will learn how to use the different search engines and directories that are out there. A number of typical research topics and projects will be presented to you so you can practise the new techniques.
This course shows you how to search through specific resources on the Internet, such as contact directories, newsgroups and mailing lists, and FTP and software download sites. You will learn about downloading programs, drivers and documents are also covered with respect to compressing, decompressing and checking files for viruses.

- Revise shortcuts in using internet and email.
- Use search engines and search directories.
- Use advanced search commands and techniques.
- Use a typical project to search the Internet.
- Use and update Antivirus programs.
