PowerPoint 2003 Essentials & Beyond (1 Day)
Brief Outline:
This course focuses on the basics of PowerPoint but goes beyond to discuss presentation issues as well. PowerPoint should complement and enhance, not totally takeover, your presentation. As such, the course also covers important design aspects, such as what colour schemes to use, and the types of backgrounds and fonts that are most effective.
An important aspect of PowerPoint we cover that many people do not use is its ability to help you plan, create and edit the content (i.e., text) of your presentation. Also, we will cover the types of special effects, bullet builds and slide transitions that will make your presentation more effective and your message more long-lasting.
Any previous presentations you have can be brought in so that we can make suggestions on how to improve them.

By the end of your learning, you will be able to:
- Describe the PowerPoint screen.
- Create a text outline of the presentation.
- Demote and promote text.
- Apply background templates to format slides.
- Make global changes to slides and text.
- Change views of slides.
- Add and format graphics.
- Use keyboard and mouse shortcuts.
- Create onscreen slide shows with animations.
- Create builds within slides.
- Print slides, overheads, hand outs.
- State which colours, effects, etc., are effective.
- Summarise aspects of public speaking.
Recommended Prior Experience (Prerequisites):
No experience in using PowerPoint is required nor assumed. Participants are expected to have a sound knowledge of and experience with a Windows PC.

PowerPoint 2003 Advanced (1 Day Course)
Brief Outline:
This course covers the more powerful multimedia, graphics and animation features of PowerPoint. You will look at how to edit, customise and then animate different parts of imported graphics to illustrate your point more effectively.
You will cover how to create flow charts and organisation charts with connectors that do not move. You will learn how to add background music and video clips to your presentation. We will also cover how to add your own narration which plays automatically during self-running shows. You will create interactive presentations with the utilising the Next and Previous buttons.
When your presentation is complete, we will look at how to save it as web pages ready to publish it to your web site or your organisation’s intranet.

- Revise the shortcuts of the basics.
- Apply advanced text formatting and effects.
- Customise drawing objects and edit clipart.
- Create flow charts with connectors, etc.

- Add CD music and narration to slide shows.
- Convert presentations to web/intranet pages.
