Project 2003/2007 Essentials & Beyond (2 Days)
Brief Outline:
This course will take you through the basics and beyond for using this powerful project management tool.
You will learn how to set up a project, its schedule and how to manage resources and generate reports. You will graphically view your project and learn ways to adjust the project schedule easily and quickly.
The focus in this course is on using Project correctly and saving time in using its features. Some project management principles will be covered as it relates to the software. You will create an example of a typical project with scheduled tasks and managed resources.

By the end of your learning, you will be able to:
- State important project management principles.
- Describe the Project screen layout.
- Create a project file from ‘scratch’.
- Set working times and project defaults.
- Add tasks, summary tasks and detailed tasks.
- Add durations to tasks.
- Demote and promote tasks.
- Navigate with the mouse and keyboard.
- Link tasks and create relationships.
- View Gantt charts, Network diagrams and calendars.
- Apply constraints to fine-tune the schedule.
- Format text and Gantt bars.
- State the meaning of a project’s ‘Baseline’ and ‘Critical Path’.

Recommended Prior Experience (Prerequisites):
No experience in using Project is required nor assumed. Participants are expected to have a sound knowledge of and experience with a Windows PC.

Brief Outline:
This course covers some of the more complex aspects of Project. You will learn how to manage one large project that may be composed of many smaller, linked subprojects.
You will look at how to create a pool of resources that can be shared across many projects. You will customise project views and tables, create macros and project templates.
Hands-on exercises which show you how to integrate project information with other applications, such as Word, PowerPoint and on the web.
