Word Introduction (1 Day Course)
Brief Outline:
This course concentrates on the simple basics of setting up a basic letter in Word, typing in some simple text, editing the text and formatting it, and then printing it out.
Simple cutting and pasting of text to fix up mistakes is covered in the hands-on exercises, along with how to spell-check your document and then how to print it.
Throughout the course, you will learn the keyboard shortcuts and mouse shortcuts that allow you to do things efficiently and easily.
Detailed Outcomes:
By the end of your learning, you will be able to:
- Define basic word processing principles.
- Describe the Word screen & the new interface.
- Set up a document (page, margins, etc).
- Type simple text.
- Save and open documents.
- Move around the document and select text.
- Carry out simple text editing tasks.
- Look at different views of the page.
- Cut, paste text and drag text.
- Apply paragraph and text formatting.
- Use Undo and Redo.
- Use spell-checks and AutoCorrect.
- Print the document.
Recommended Prior Experience (Prerequisites):
No experience in using Word is required nor assumed. Participants are expected to have some knowledge of and experience with a Windows PC.

Word Intermediate (1 Day Course)
Brief Outline:
Better control over your documents, headers, footers, formatting, is the focus of this course.
The exercises will show you how to set up multi-level numbering in legal documents and minutes of meetings. Importing, manipulating and editing graphics, and using tables extensively is also covered.
AutoText and AutoCorrect features, used for inserting standard sets of text and graphics, are also covered in the training manual.

- Revise Word shortcuts, basics & the new interface.
- Apply more advanced formatting to text.
- Add headers and footers.
- Add bullets, numbers.
- Set up multi-level (‘outline’) numbering.
- Apply borders and shading.
- Create and format tables.
- Use and edit AutoCorrect and AutoText.
- Import and format graphics (clipart, digital images).
- Conduct search and replaces.

Word Advanced (1 Day Course)
Brief Outline:
This course is for Word power-users. You will learn how to work with templates, styles, table of contents and an index of words.
You will learn how to work with complex documents that contain pages with different orientations, how to use powerful captions and cross-references features and how to use tabs.
You will also learn how to create macros and use them to speed up and automate your work. How to create advanced auto-filled forms is covered in the hands-on exercises as well.

By the end of your learning, you will be able to:
- Use styles for formatting.
- Use and creating templates.
- Create a table of contents and index of words.
- Use bookmarks and cross references.
- Create simple and complex macros.
- Use tabs to create a hard-copy ‘fill-in’ form.
- Create Auto-Filled Documents.
- Perform mail merges.
- Integrate Windows applications.
